Siemens Mobility is providing sustainable railway transportation solutions. In order to improve seamless European cross-border travel we are designing push-pull trains with maximum speeds up to 230 km/h. As a leader in passenger transportation, we constantly innovate our rolling stock portfolio., High- end technical solutions are key for to meet the high-level customer requirements for reliable, available and safe operation.

We are currently seeking for a  highly motivated Head for the our Software Development Department in Vienna or Graz. You will be responsible for the entire train control software as well as for passenger related features on our trains (e.g. Internet on Board, Passenger Wifi, Passenger information system including the data transfer from the landside to the train).

In this role, you can actively design the future of sustainable high-speed cross-border train service in Europe.

Tasks

  • You will lead and develop a group of approximately 30 engineers, organized in three teams.

  • You manage the area of vehicle control, vehicle diagnostics, testing and train IT for passenger coaches.

  • You will be responsible for shaping the development activities for your teams and promoting cross-departmental and cross-location collaboration mainly with our engineering sites in Germany, Czech Republic and Hungary..

  • Together with your team, you will create technical concepts for vehicle control systems and passenger related features for rail vehicles based on the market requirements provided by the sales or the product management team.

  • You will provide technical leadership to your team integrating the control system and developing the control system software for our rail vehicles for the European market.

  • You will be responsible for costs, time-schedule and quality reporting regularly to project and line management.

  • You will frequently visit customers, suppliers as well as other Siemens locations (mainly in Germany and Czech Republic).

Skills

  • You are highly motivated to lead the software department with a clear focus on an effective way of working.

  • You have several years of experience in leading teams in line management and thus are used to organize the work of such kind of teams efficiently.

  • You have successfully completed a technical degree in e.g. electrical, software, mechanical or railway engineering.

  • Ideally, you have several years of professional experience in the field of Software Developing in the field of vehicle or automation technology.

  • A railway/vehicle technology Know How would be beneficial.

  • You are fluent in English and on B2-level in German language.

  • It is advantageous to have international work experience.

  • Your leadership style is based on empowerment & growth mindset. You will help your people build the skills they need to be successful.

What else should I know?

We offer an attractive remuneration package in line with your qualifications and professional experience. The legally required minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement for this position is at least EUR 95.000, based on all-inclusive employment. Depending on your education, experience and overtime, a higher salary can be agreed. As a large corporation, Siemens also offers additional social benefits.
