Position Overview:

Our growth has created the need for a Tooling and Consumables Supervisor. In this role, you will have tremendous impact on the site daily manufacturing operations. You will lead and mentor a diverse team of technicians that will support production functions in the manufacturing of state-of-the-art Locomotives, Coach cars, and Light Rail vehicles.

What your day may look like:

  • Commit to Zero Harm @Siemens for the health and safety of all employees.

  • Define and improve existing workflows and establish priorities to meet production timeline and requirements for factory wide tooling and consumables needs.

  • Plan for operations for factory wide tooling and consumables including different types of gases such as propane and welding gas by reviewing historical use and forecasting future use.

  • Manage and account for the tools inventory within our physical tool cribs and establish a method for tracking spend by cost center including cycle counting for inventory and removing obsolete tools using an inventory management software.

  • Support the factory tools and equipment needs by managing Share Point Orders for up to 200 unique requests per week from request received to package received to package delivered to requestors.

  • Ensure that tooling and equipment calibration are tracked completed, and up to date for the factory for up to 3000 calibrated tools.

  • Establish standards and further expand inhouse calibration capabilities to reduce costs from insourcing or outsourcing.

  • Coordinate and oversee external Vendors on site for services including ordering, receiving, and delivering consumables to 75 consumables supply cabinets located in the various production areas in the factory for both on-site and off-site operations.

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of up to 15 technicians.

  • Establish, monitor, and adjust manpower (including hiring and promoting) depending on the operational need.

  • Facilitate positive communication and environment within the entire Tool Crib team including communicating operations, performance, process changes, and company policies.

  • Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviews including planning, monitoring, and documenting the training & development of Tool Crib technicians.

  • Track and manage department budget for up to $20M including Blanket Purchase Orders, Purchase Orders, and Invoices to meet target and continuous improvement projects to reduce tools and consumables spending.

  • Work with firm drive to bring projects to closure and meet project target dates with the ability to recognize potential issues and mitigate risks.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or Engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience managing industrial operations.

  • 3+ years of experience in OEM capital equipment assembly operations within a schedule-driven, moderate-volume, and diverse product mix, engineer-to-order project environment.

  • Proficient in Excel (including Pivot Tables and Macros), SAP, SharePoint, and Power BI.

  • Excellent communication skills.

The pay range for this position is $79,400-107,200. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
