Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail infrastructure, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Technician for the Rolling Stock manufacturing facility in Sacramento, CA. The EHS Technician position is responsible for supporting and participating in cross functional EHS projects and initiatives to achieve Siemens’ goals and objectives. This role will work closely with the EHS team, leadership team and stakeholders in pursuit of safety excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of current health and safety regulations, policies, and practices as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position will report to the Business’s EHS Manager/Director.

What you will be doing:

  • Ability to lead and support cross functional safety related projects.

  • Promote the application of best management practices through operational excellence and ensure compliance within all administrative and operational functions.

  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of EHS policies, practices, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Ensure employees and operations maintain compliance with health and safety regulations; and support the review of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.

  • Assist in maintaining appropriate metrics, evaluating data trends, and providing data input to management reviews, with a view to continuous improvement and enhancement.

  • Coordinate incident/accident investigation process including root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed.

  • Conduct EHS audits and risk assessments.

  • Develop and conduct training.

  • Conduct incident investigations and perform root cause assessments.

  • Participate in external compliance audits and loss prevention audits.

  • Coordinate the completion of all corrective actions with site personnel resulting from incident investigations, risk assessments, compliance audits, or loss prevention audits.

  • Actively participate in the site EHS committee.

What you will need be successful:

  • Possesses knowledge of standard industry EHS practices

  • Detailed knowledge/understanding and practical application of health and safety regulations (OSHA, Cal-OSHA, EPA, etc.)

  • Must demonstrate the ability and willingness to successfully work independently and in team environments.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate safety hazards and recommendations effectively to all levels of the organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Minimum 1- 5 years of experience in an environmental, health, and/or safety position, with experience in a manufacturing environment

  • B.S. Degree and / or Professional Certification in Occupational Safety or related

  • Proficient in using EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

*This job is based in Sacramento, CA. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
