As the Financial Bid Estimator you will be producing cost estimates that accurately reflect project costs in formats compliant with customer and internal approval requirements. This role is a Hybrid role and flexible with a working pattern of 2 days in the Poole, Dorset office.

You’ll make an impact by…

  • Applying the estimating process for the bid and briefing the process to all bid team members responsible for cost estimation by using the budget tool and parameters agreed by the team.

  • Creating and presenting the “model” estimate based on parameters provided by Bid Engineering and using current norms/rates. Where necessary, issuing cost input sheets in the required formats to those required to provide cost estimates.

  • Expediting the delivery of estimates from discipline leads. Use of estimate tracker to ensure transparent version control.

  • Reviewing estimating inputs for accuracy and validity, Inputting completed estimates into Tender Template and Pricing Document.

  • Apply Risk, Warranty, Margin, inflation and other adjustments to the estimate, as provided by Finance and the tender template and agreed by the team.

  • Interfacing with the bid Finance Manager to ensure that all rates, exchange rates and inflation rates are correctly applied in the tender template

  • Collating activity-based resource estimates and subcontract prices into the Tender Template format, customer bid submission format(s) and for the Commercial Review and PM040

  • Supporting the Bid Manager in the Commercial Review and PM040 by feeding into presentations, attending reviews and presenting as required

  • Updating TT and customer pricing to reflect tender negotiations and scope changes.

  • Compiling, reviewing and challenging the risk register with the PM and BM and Compiling assumptions to support the submission.

Your success will be grounded by …

  • Financial background

  • CIMA or ACCA professional accounting qualification

  • Demonstrating attention to detail

  • Understanding working to deadlines ( short time frames )

  • Being a confident speaker able to challenge and own the room
