Job Description:

Siemens Mobility is seeking to hire an R&D Director supporting multiple locations throughout the US. This position will report to the VP and Head of R&D and will lead the Systems & Software Teams to position Siemens MO Rail Automation as a leader in the product and system development of safety-critical rail systems and products, as well as communications and user interfaces.

In this role, you will developand implement a forward-thinking approach across the organization and within the rail industry to deliver an advanced suite of technology services. You will provide proactive perspectives on transformational initiatives and partner with the Business Unit Head and other department leaders (Engineering, Product Support, and PMO teams for example) to assess and select technologies that will revolutionize the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadthe Systems & Software organization in a strategic, but traditional R&Dleadership role - people management, process, product and system development.

  • OverseeEngineering activities covering all aspects of requirements engineering,Systems Design, Agile SW development, test,and V&V.

  • Support execution of, andinvestment in, engineering projects within an international organization.

  • Explore strategicconsulting opportunities and ensures set-up of appropriate proposals (e.g. Organizational setup).

  • Support strategic,operational and organizational recommendations for the future development ofrail automation services. Decide onbudget and resource allocations.

  • Oversee Systems &Software development for mission-critical programs and assignments, in terms of progress, budget adherence,communication.

  • Orchestrate theenhancement of internal methodologies and knowledge of the respective industryand transfer of knowledge.

  • Responsible for allsystems and solutions development activities in the assigned organization of a business.

  • Develop strategies andimplements innovation programs toincrease global competitiveness.

  • Define function relatedstrategies, policies and guidelines forthe assigned part of the organization.

  • Use internationalR&D network and drive towards effective international collaboration

  • Supportcustomer projects,bids, and proposals – ensure commitment to project deliverables

  • Manage competencedevelopment with your team in a changing environment

  • Lead change programs

RequiredSkills/Education/Experience:

  • BA or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or ComputerScience

  • Stronginterpersonal, management, negotiation and presentation skills

  • Advanced toexpert proficiency in program management with large, complex new initiatives

  • 10 years of diverse roles and increasingleadership responsibilities across major projects and programs

  • Prior experience in the rail industry.

  • Project management experience

  • Change management

  • Customer relation and interaction and negotiation

  • Innovative and strategic thinking

  • Domestic and International travel required – up to 2 weeks/monthdomestic, trips to Europe as needed
