In this exciting environment an opportunity is available for a Traffic Systems Engineer to join our growing team in either Austin, Texas or Miami, Florida.

Position Overview

The role requires applying professional engineering best practices in ITS industry, leadership and communication skills, as well as a strong background in traffic and transportation engineering. In this challenging role, you will part of anEngineering team during project implementation and meet customer satisfaction and business goals.

You will also work with R&D, Sales, Product Management and Marketing teams to analyze customer requirements, develop system design documents, technical narrative, develop complete RFP/RFQ responses and outline the benefits of Siemens ITS product portfolio specific to customer requirements.

TheTraffic Systems Engineerwill report to the VP of Bids, Programs and Engineering.

MinimumRequirements

  • Bachelor’sdegree in Civil, Transportation, Software or Electrical Engineering. M.S.degree preferred

  • Passionfor ITS and the exciting future it presents

  • 4-7years of experience in working for Engineering Consultants or Governmentagencies

  • EITcertification. P.E. license a huge plus

  • 50%travel within the U.S.

  • Basicunderstanding of traffic signal control systems, ATMS, adaptive systems, and CVtechnology and applications.

  • Outstandingcommunication, collaborative and interpersonal skills

  • Abilityto work independently to create well-defined goals, objectives, andrequirements

  • Interestin and ability to solve complex problems

DetailedResponsibilities

  • ProvideITS and Traffic Engineering consulting services

  • Activedeployment of ITS solutions including controller and central software, detectionsystems, adaptive control solutions, ATMS and connected vehicle applications

  • Troubleshootingof ITS devices such as traffic signal controllers, detection devices includingloops, microware, radar and video and communication equipment

  • ConfigureRoad-Side and On-Board units for CV deployment projects

  • SupportATMS and Central software deployment and integration tasks

  • Understandingand managing regulating authorities, code requirements, and other industry-specificfactors

  • Generateproject specific technical system design, system architecture, scopedefinition, and concept of operations to meet/exceed customer requirementstogether with R&D, Product Management, and other Engineering teams
