Role: Assistant Internal Sales engineer - 6 Months Maternity cover.

Location: Manchester, West Didsbury with free carparking. This role allows you to work remotely for 2/3 days per week.

Due to the nature of the role this may require ad hoc travel to customer premises or customer sites (10% of time), possible training and occasional visit to our German HQ /factory but predominantly this will be an office role (90% of time).

Hours of work: Full time 37.5 hrs per week.

Key purpose of your role is the production of detailed and accurate electrical estimates for Low Voltage Systems within SI EA division throughout the UK and Ireland and first line technical support of such for customers. There will be a broad variety of projects, across most sectors such as commercial, industrial, retail and utilities.

What will this role involve?

In this role you will be the technical sales responsible for a range of electrical low voltage portfolio products across the UK and Ireland, acting as a referral point to both colleagues and customers. A key member of the Low Voltage proposals team you will build close relationships with our customers in dealing with electrical technical sales enquiries, be proactive in producing accurate and competitive quotes and being able to source solutions to meet their needs. You will work closely with the Portfolio Lead to build accounts with both customers and suppliers. This includes responsibility for keeping up to date sales literature, executing low level purchase orders and maintaining stock levels for products to enable the business to respond appropriately. You will need to work closely with the external sales and PM and HQ German engineering teams to ensure quotations are completed in a timely manner in line with the tender return dates. •Manage and interpret both new and existing customer requirements – to understand, anticipate and practically meet their needs.

•Offer customers a product or system that best satisfies their needs in terms of technical specification, quality, price and delivery, for your range of products.

•Provide pre-sales technical expertise and product education to new and existing customers.

•Calculate accurate and competitive sales quotations and prepare tenders, proposals, designs and technical documents to meet customer deadlines using Siemens ‘estimation’ software.

•Follow up quotations in a timely manner to secure profitable orders.

•Build close relations with key suppliers in order to develop in-depth knowledge of your product range and to understand new product developments.

•Analyze costs of sales, to be able to make informed pricing recommendations for core and new business opportunities; and propositions in emerging markets.

•Attend and actively contribute to Sales meetings to keep colleagues informed about customers and your product range.

•Attend occasional site visits and customer meetings in order to provide technical expertise for your product range.

•Maintain appropriate levels of sales literature, instruction manuals, certification booklets and evaluation reports for your product range.

What do I need to qualify for the role?

•Working to ONC or equivalent electrical / electronic engineering qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role

•Electrical estimating / bid presentation experience in the sector preferable but not essential

•Good understanding of technical issues is preferable

•Ability to read and clearly understand drawings and specifications

•Ability to work under pressure and flexible in approach to tender deadlines

•Computer literate with experience of ‘Estimation’ software desirable but not essential as full training given.

•Confident and articulate with an attention to detail

•Highly professional, highly organized with a high level of integrity

•Able to communicate at different levels and situations and influence people

•Auto-cad knowledge desirable
