The new Siemens Mobility facility in Lexington, NC, will be the first to offer maintenance services on a 200-acre site, allowing for future expansion. Building on some of the latest technologies in our Sacramento rolling stock and rail services factories, the new facility will include robotic welding, 3D printing, Virtual Reality weld training, and software tools to enhance our manufacturing process. The Production Manager Passenger Coach Welding leads the integration and welding of stainless-steel railcar coach car bodies to meet project requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
Key job responsibilities
Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Also, make sure team members are trained in, and observe safe work practices.
Meet project targets for direct labor hours, schedule, and quality.
Ensure development and documentation of best work standards and ensure all employees are accurately trained for their assigned tasks.
Plan production operations, define workflow, and establish priorities and production sequences to meet project and interdepartmental requirements.
Develop, supervise, and meet department budgets and business plans.
Establish, monitor, and adjust workforce and applicable equipment planning to meet production demands.
Drive lean manufacturing and 5S principles and initiatives to eliminate waste.
Ensure positive communication with the entire team regularly to keep them informed of work status, department performance, process changes, and company policies.
Develop and implement measures to improve production efficiency, equipment performance, and product quality.
Develop and maintain appropriate KPIs along with benchmarks and targets that provide a clear indication of department performance, performance trends, and potential problem areas.
Work collaboratively with other department managers to ensure coordinated support of all production needs.
Education & experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
10 years experience in leading sophisticated welding operations.
10 years. Experience in OEM capital equipment welding operations, in a schedule-driven, engineer-to-order, project environment.
In-depth knowledge of AWS and DIN weld standards. AWS Certified Weld Inspector certification is a plus.
Experience in stainless-steel welded structures - MIG, TIG, and resistance and plasma welding.
Strong understanding of, and ability to work with, quality assurance concepts and systems.
Proficient in the principles of Lean manufacturing
Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Management skills
Ability to lead and empower a direct labor workforce
Develop relationships: Excellent mentor and team builder
Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills
Fix and resolve sophisticated problems.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal customers.
This career is based in Lexington, NC. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees, including PTO, 401k match, and tuition reimbursement. The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC, is $107,000 - $145,000, and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
