Siemens Material Handler - Lead - Rolling Stock in Lexington, North Carolina

The new Siemens Mobility facility in Lexington, NC, will be the first to offer maintenance services on a 200-acre site, allowing for future expansion. Building on some of the latest technologies in our Sacramento rolling stock and rail services factories, the new facility will include robotic welding, 3D printing, Virtual Reality weld training, and software tools to enhance our manufacturing process. We're excited to bring this new venture to the East Coast, and we'd love to have you join our team!

As a Material Handler, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high-energy warehouse environment providing all material to production departments for manufacturing the best rail vehicles in the world.

What you will be doing

  • Follow all safety requirements, including the use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Contribute to and maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

  • Specific areas or responsibility may include receiving, putting away, picking, kitting, or delivery of material to production.

  • Ensure transactional accuracy for all material movements – i.e. ensure the correct quantity of material is moved to the specified location, and MRP system transactions are completed correctly.

  • Ensure all material is properly identified with appropriate labels and part numbers.

  • Carefully handle material to prevent any damage during handling in the warehouse or delivery to production.

  • Immediately notify the supervisor of any quality or delivery issues

  • Use of powered industrial vehicles in the movement of material. Certification for the use of some tools and equipment may be required, such as cranes, forklifts, order pickers, scissor lifts, and fall protection equipment.

  • Meet production schedules for material delivery to production.

  • Explain warehouse procedures and processes to fellow workers.

What you need to be successful

  • High school education or GED

  • 2 years of previous experience in a warehouse environment

  • Basic English skills – the ability to read and understand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally.

We would be impressed if you have

  • Previous warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous Powered Industrial Vehicle certification

  • Upon offer of employment, candidates will be subject to a background check and drug screen.
