Position Overview:

We have an immediate opening for a Design Engineer at our Lexington, NC Facility . The candidate will have the ability to support the design and production of our Locomotives, Coach Cars, and Light Rail trains. We are looking for professionals who strive to work in the high-paced rail industry to build new and innovative designs for our future vehicles.

In this role, you will assist the Engineering Department personnel to ensure accurate execution of the design and compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Requires the ability to build parts, assemblies, and bills of material. Must be diligent and take ownership of tasks as part of a team. Must be able to work inside a team to support projects and be able to complete work with moderate supervision. Must be available to travel and partner with Design and Production Engineers at the Siemens Sacramento, CA facility. Travel will be required for several weeks for training on products and processes that will be used in the new production environment in Lexington.

What you will be doing:

  • Complete (individually or as a member of an engineering team) customized production orders under minimum supervision, applying industry standards and best engineering practices.

  • Provide drafting support to engineers on submittals, and as-built drawings. This includes the design of new components, modification of mechanical drawings, and incorporation of field or customer-based changes.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)

  • Associate degree in a related field with 5 or more years of similar work experience

  • Experience crafting with 3D CAD modeling software (completed coursework can be considered as experience). Experience with PTC Creo 9 preferred. The applicant will need to show examples of relatable experience and willingness and ability to learn PTC Creo 9.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hydraulic/pneumatic piping design

  • Welded Steel Structures design

  • Mechanical Electrical integration

  • Sheet metal part design

  • Fiberglass and plastic part design

  • Manufacturing/fabrication experience

  • Material Selection / Corrosion Protection

*This job is based in Lexington, NC. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://www.benefitsquickstart.com/siemens/index.html . . The base salary range in Lexington, NC, is $80,800 - $109,000. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
