Siemens Logistics LLC is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to provide a broad range of commercial contract management functions in support of our airport baggage handling system projects throughout the United States. This position requires an individual with at least eight (8) years of combined contract and claims management experience, as well as a keen understanding of the various types of contracts and documentation associated with large-scale construction projects involving public and private entities. Excellent organizational, communicational, and coordination skills are key to this role, as well as the flexibility to adjust and thrive in a dynamic environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities for multiple projects and assignments.

This position will be based in Irving, Texas and will report to the head of legal and compliance for North America.

Position Summary

The Contracts Manager will work in a team-oriented and results-focused environment with other contract professionals, attorneys, project managers, commercial project managers, and procurement team members on a variety of airport baggage handling system and operations maintenance projects throughout the United States. Range of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Analyze, draft, modify, and, negotiate a variety of construction project-related agreements, including bid documents, prime contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, purchase orders, amendments, non-disclosure agreements, letters of intent, letter agreements, memorandum of understandings, change orders and claim management documents, settlement agreements, warranties, and other project-related contract documents.

Serve as a key stakeholder during the project acquisition phase through analyzing commercial risks and providing timely responses to assist with the bid management teams with pre-contract negotiations along with other avenues involving the generation of additional business opportunities. These responsibilities include identifying risks, collaborating with management and internal teams to determine the valuation of those risks and evaluating mitigation strategies in order to minimize the impact of those risks.

Assist with various licensing, permits, pricing and insurance inquires, OCIP/ROCIP/CCIP management and enrollment processes, SAP compliance validation, surety bonds and vendor credentialing topics.

Serve as the project team’s go-to expert during the project execution phase when it comes to the contractual terms and conditions, identifying and mitigating risks, and claims management.

Actively support the procurement manager on a variety of contractual topics including, drafting subcontract templates and flow downs and negotiating agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.

Maintain deadlines on project deliverables and regularly communicate with business partners and internal clients about contractual issues.

Generate contractual overviews of obligations and baselines for projects and highlight potential risks, claims and mitigation actions for our project teams.

Actively attend project meetings and advise on all contractual-related questions.

Attend site visits and collaborate with the various teams at all levels throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Prepare and manage change orders and associated variations, including providing necessary substantiation as well as commercial assessment of the changes, preparing notices for potential delay claims in accordance with the contractual requirements, and issuing notices to our suppliers and subcontractors.

Coordinate with project management teams in the preparation and defence of claims, including defining contractual entitlements and ensuring required levels of substantiation and quantification are provided to achieve the objectives of the claims.

Support implementation of processes for efficient and streamlined operations surrounding contract management.

Contribute to the development and improvement of the model contract library and the efficiency of the legal contract management process.

Support our legal department on various matters and topics, including organizing and maintaining contractual documents in various databases and assisting with the development and execution of training programs.

Cooperate across departments to achieve optimal contract terms while minimizing risk.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree.

  • Minimum 8 years of combined experience in contract and claims management, preferably with a strong background in the construction industry.

  • Proven ability to initiate appropriate actions and follow-up actions with minimal supervision.

  • Proven experience in advising and supporting project managers and other project team members throughout all phases of construction projects.

  • Excellent attention to detail and demonstrated desire and ability to quickly learn and understand new contractual and legal topics.

  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance and construction/contractor licensing requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience with drafting and negotiating construction project-related contracts.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills with demonstrated ability to develop and communicate clear, concise and consistent contractual provisions.

  • Broad knowledge of contractual and legal concepts involved in construction projects.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work with a sense of urgency and thoroughness.

  • Ability to interact and cooperate with all levels of management within a fast-paced and diverse multi-cultural environment.

  • Polished and effective negotiation, communication and writing/drafting skills, including those suitable for interaction with very senior managers and executives.

  • Skilled in working collaboratively as a key player on multiple teams simultaneously.

  • Flexible team player willing to accept new challenges and assignments based on needs of the business.

  • The starting pay range for this position is $118,100 - $159,600. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
