Siemens Junior Mechanical Engineer in Houston, Texas

Position Overview

Water is a critical element in offshore, onshore, upstream and downstream activities within the oil and gas industry. Siemens Water Solutions addresses water and wastewater needs of the industry with a portfolio that includes physical and chemical separation, biological treatment, and complex hydrothermal technologies. We are looking for professional, talented individuals to help us address the needs of our oil and gas industry customers, now and in the future.

Responsible for the engineering and design of internally and externally manufactured equipment for the oil and gas industry. The Mechanical Engineer works with a project team to deliver equipment to projects in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets. Accuracy, completeness, efficiency and timeliness in are highly emphasized.

Responsibilities

  • Specification reviewand scope definition

  • Request for Quotationpackage preparation, technical review of quotations, preparing vendor andbudget recommendations

  • Preparation of equipment Purchase Order Requests andReleases to Manufacturing

  • Engineering of equipment items including, calculationsand drawing review.

  • Review of vendor submittal against project requirements

  • Preparation of deliverables for transmittal tocustomers

  • Coordination with other engineering disciplinescontributing to the project.

  • Review of customer comments and coordination or thosecomments to the project team and vendors.

RequiredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

· Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (8+ years)

· 2-5 years of experience in process piping

  • Ability to reviewvendor submittals against project requirements.

  • Ability to review andrespond to customer comments. Ability tocoordinate customer comments with project teams and vendors.

  • Proficient withMicrosoft Word, Excel & Outlook.

  • Basic knowledge relatedto structural steel construction, pressure piping systems and welding

  • Ability to travelinternationally, including the Middle East and India.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

  • Preferred Knowledge/Skills,Education, and Experience

  • · Experiencewithin the water treatment and oil and gas industry.

  • · Familiaritywith the high spec industrial market.

  • · Experiencewith pipe stress models, analysis, and reports utilizing Caesar II software.

  • · Experience with ASMEB31.3 for the design of piping systems

  • · Experience specifyingand selecting valves per duty requirements and project specifications.

  • · Experience specifyingand selecting rotating equipment such as pumps and mixers per duty requirementsand project specifications.

  • · Experience related topreparing atmospheric tank design including the stress analysis and stiffeningdesign.

  • · Experience with FEAanalysis.

  • · Experience preparingstructural calculations, consisting of member selection and joint design.

  • · Experience preparingpressure vessel designs in accordance with ASME Sec VIII, Div. 1 using COMPRESSsoftware.
