Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Infrastructure Architect position is in the Siemens PLM Americas Technology Office – Systems Architecture and Performance group. You will be responsible to support billable activities. The main focus will be to work system architecture and security (4 “A’s” - Authentication, Audit, Authorization, Asset Protection) activities for our PLM solutions delivered on various platforms and on the cloud. This position requires up to 50% travel at any given time.


  • Engage with Sales/Pre-Sales, Americas Zone Services, customers, Product Development, PDS, GTAC, and global teams.

  • Provide general guidance or train support and/or professional staff.

  • Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.

  • Works on medium sized, individual projects, in a single computer environment where design is complex.

  • Analyzes customers' business requirements and application objectives, develops an application design in products to meet customers' needs.

  • Conducts periodic status checks with customer and team to assess progress against plan.

  • Estimates time frames, quality and quantity of resources required to successfully implement complex project; develops project plan incorporating all project variables.

  • Prepares weekly status reports on all project activities.

  • May perform pre-sales support activities as needed.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.

  • Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.

  • Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • 4+ years of experience and working knowledge of Teamcenter or other PLM Products (including MOM such asSimatic IT Production Suite or UADM; Camstar, QSYS, SIT R&D Suite)

  • Ability to gather use case information, document and perform use case requirements

  • Self-directed and able to work with limited supervision

  • Strong background in datacenter infrastructure components – servers, storage and network

  • Knowledge of security protocols (https, LDAP, SAML) and features (key management, encryption)

  • Basic experience with authentication enablement (On-premise and/or cloud)

  • Travel 50%

  • Ability to work in Aerospace and defense customer site locations

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, computer engineering, one of the engineering verticals or a combination of education and equivalent experience.

  • Experience with other PLM or ERP systems a plus

  • Experience in installation and configuration of enterprise class applications

  • Web – J2EE, .NeT

  • Database – Oracle, SQL Server

  • Familiar with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)

  • Ability to debug and resolve issues with multi-tier complex enterprise application installations

  • Experience scripting in; SQL, Java, C#, Perl, ASP.NET is a plus

  • Experience with Linux/Solaris/Windows

  • Strong customer facing skills, structured approach to projects, and clear and concise communications/documentation skills.

  • Demonstrated capability for problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams.

  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.

  • Experienced user of the MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio)
