Our Logistics teams at Siemens Global Business Services support Siemens worldwide in various Supply Chain fields (Transportation & Customs, Freight Clearing, Digitalization of Logistics processes etc.). To strengthen our team, we look for Freight Services Expert who will help us to shape the future of Freight Services - EDIfication of transportation processes, automation of transport tracking, clearing & payments and in general digitalization of the transportation processes. It is a highly demanding role in complex environment (millions of transports across all Siemens businesses per year).

What part will you play?

As a member of the Freight Services team at Siemens, your role will involve working with a team of experts to provide freight services within the company. Here are some of the key responsibilities and tasks you will be involved in:

  • You will work on enhancing the digitalization and automation of processes related to logistics. This includes collaborating with internal customers, IT teams, and carriers to identify areas for improvement and implementing solutions. Also, you will act as a service manager for specific tools used in the freight services department.

  • You will be involved in new projects related to transportation, such as the implementation of a new transport management system.

  • You will assist in onboarding new carriers and Siemens locations into the digital transport process using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Additionally, you will work on maintaining the high quality of already EDI-connected locations and carriers. You will also contribute to the improvement of transport payment processes.

  • You are the interface to Siemens locations (manufacturing, warehouses, distribution centers), carriers, and other Siemens departments such as IT and procurement.

  • Depending on the specific project or task, you may work as a team member, project manager, or consultant. You will also contribute to the development of team knowledge and expertise.

  • Possible assignment in projects related to logistics and digitalization that extend beyond the Freight Services team. This could involve working with external customers or contributing to initiatives at the company level.

  • You will have a strong focus on continuously improving internal processes and driving innovation in service delivery.

What you need to make real what matters.

  • The basis for your success is a completed master´s degree in economics, business administration, industrial engineering, or a similar field of study.

  • You have many years of professional experience in the specified area of responsibility.

  • You are experienced in leading and motivating international teams (at least from project manager perspective).

  • You have a deep understanding of freight and international transportation processes. This includes knowledge of TMS systems (Transportation Management Systems), Transport EDI (EDIFACT), and Freight Audit processes.

  • You are knowledgeable about the main Logistic IT tools and applications that are used globally within Siemens.

  • You have hands-on experience with logistics digitalization and possess a strong affinity for IT.

  • You have the ability to drive topics and projects independently, taking ownership of tasks and initiatives. You are skilled in managing complexity and have a structured approach to work. You can comprehend end-to-end processes while also having the capability to deep dive into details when necessary.

  • Experience with Shared Services concept as advantage (service & customer orientation), but not a must.

  • Your positive attitude and “get it done” approach characterize you.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as fluency in English and German round off your profile.
