Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility Inc. is seeking to fill a Field Service Engineer position in Boston, MA. The Field Service Engineer will provide engineering advice to the Amtrak maintenance workforce to enhance the equipment reliability of the Siemens ACS-64 electric locomotive fleet. This includes advice on routine maintenance, restoration, and resolution to equipment failures, semi-complex equipment installation, and modifications and repairs.

Setting a safe work environment and proactively professionally supporting our customers is central to the job. This position will have the focus on:

  1. Ensuring technical and material support to the customer

  2. Providing a positive customer service experience to the customer

  3. Maintaining ongoing, effective communication with all internal and external relevant parties

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Ensure the provision of high-quality technical advice to the customer’s maintenance workforce to enhance the equipment reliability of the fleet.

  • Ensure responsiveness and support to the completion of all troubleshooting and repairs assigned to service requests.

  • Identify Non-conformance issues and improvement recommendations.

  • Ensure proper communication between the customer, our Rail Support Center, and the field team.

  • Provide feedback to the team regarding performance, quality, and reliability issues.

  • Verify that all defects, tasks, and /or incidents have been reported and detailed in (CMMS) for compliance, issue tracking, and closure.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, and regulations. Foster a work environment that drives a safety-first, zero-harm culture (ZHC) and speaks up, when necessary, as a partner for shop and site safety for yourself and your coworkers.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Associate degree in an engineering subject area or a minimum of 3 or more years of experience working in an industrial or maintenance environment.

  • Excellently demonstrated English language technical communication skills in speaking, reading, and writing.

  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office (including Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint) products.

  • Required travel: only for training purposes.

  • Setting you apart from others would be a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years of experience working in rolling stock (railroad) maintenance and commissioning or other rail-related experience. Having 3 or more years of customer service experience with the ability to self-learn new software programs and technical documents for effective troubleshooting would be a great plus.

This job is based in Boston, MA. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
