Siemens Mobility have an opportunity for a Project Accountant to join us in Siemens Mobility – Rail Infrastructure business based in Ashby de-la-Zouch. You will support the financial management of the suite of projects in the CIS business unit including high-profile projects such as HS2 and Riyadh Metro! This role is based at our Ashby De-La-Zouch office, with generally 2-3 days in the office per week. Our team promotes a flexible, hybrid working lifestyle.

You’ll make a difference by taking care of ….

  • Undertake a handover from the Tendering and Estimating team of the financial elements of a successful bid, creating the baseline budget and full set-up in the SAP system

  • Report project actual and forecast spend to support the Project Manager (PM) in the financial control and forecasting of their budgets

  • Analyse new project forecasts, developing a view on robustness, timing, risk, and opportunity. Review and, if necessary, challenge the PM before finalising

  • Ensuring all change is properly incorporated in cost and value, verifying provided substantiation.

  • Ensure all project reports and forecasts are submitted on time, accurate, and are understood and approved, where necessary, by the Project team and Management

  • Act as the independent conscience of the project ensuring the integrity of the financial status and forecast, escalating issues or concerns where necessary

  • Review, where necessary, project accruals related to internal and agency staff, materials, and major subcontractors

  • Verify periodic costs to ensure month-end position accurately reflects the financial position of the project

  • Manage or support the setup, submission and processing of Payment Applications, certificates, and invoices, including all postings to the ledger.

Your success will be grounded by …

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/other) could also be considered qualified by experience.

  • Minimum 2-3 years accountancy experience

  • Strong mathematically with advanced Excel skills

  • Strong communicator with the ability to challenge and influence others

  • Desire and ability to work closely and develop productive relationships with both finance staff and other project functions

  • Relevant contract accounting experience, percentage of completion / completed contract method is desirable

  • Knowledge and experience using SAP is desirable but not essential

  • Understanding of POC (percentage of completion) Model would be desirable
