We are currently looking for an Assistant Project Accountant to join us in Siemens Mobility – Rail Infrastructure business based in Ashby de la Zouch. Reporting to the Project Accountant you will support and assist with the financial management of the suite of projects in the CIS business unit including high-profile projects such as HS2 and Riyadh Metro! This role is based at our Ashby De-La-Zouch office, with generally 2-3 days in the office per week. Our team promotes a flexible, hybrid working lifestyle.

You’ll make a difference by assisting the Project Accountant with …

• Undertake a handover from the Tendering and Estimating team of the financial elements of a successful bid, creating the baseline budget and full set up in the SAP system

• Report project actual and forecast spend to support the Project Manager (PM) in the financial control and forecasting of their budgets

• Analyse new project forecasts, developing a view on robustness, timing, risk, and opportunity. Review and, if necessary, challenge the PM before finalising

• Ensure all project reports and forecasts are submitted on time, are accurate, and are understood and approved where necessary, by the Project team and Management

• Review, where necessary, project accruals related to internal and agency staff, materials, and major subcontractors

• Verify periodic costs to ensure month end position accurately reflects the financial position of the project

• Manage or support the setup, submission and processing of Payment Applications, certificates, and invoices, including all postings to the ledger.

• Actively monitor the payment cycle ensuring any required actions are taken to maximize the cash position, chasing payments with customer where necessary

Your success will be grounded by …

• Strong mathematically with intermediate Excel and good IT skills

• Strong communicator with the ability to challenge and influence others

• The ability to analyse and use data to add value to a process or activity

• Part qualified or willing to study a professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA), where we can support

• Experience within a Finance/Assistant Project Accountant role or similar
