Siemens Government Technologies (SGT) is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization, and we are seeking a self-driven Site Safety and Health Officer to join our team. You will play a key role in supporting Siemens Government Technologies mission to deliver innovative solutions that address the federal government’s imperatives in energy resiliency, smart infrastructure modernization, and the software-driven optimization of maintenance, sustainment, and production activities.

Position Summary:

The Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) will be the SGT representative at assigned project site(s) every workday to lead the safety and health program, observe and enforce contract and regulatory requirements, including the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan. The SSHO reports directly to the assigned EHS Manager and will interface on site with the Project Manager, customer representatives and all subcontractor personnel for training and safety assistance.

Responsibilities Include:

• Ensure compliance with all contract requirements is achieved with a high level of integrity.

• Ensure the project’s Accident Prevention Plan (including all addendums) is understood by all project personnel and updated regularly.

• Ensure all personnel have the required environmental, health and safety training to complete the tasks they have been assigned to

perform.

• Review the project schedule (minimum weekly) and ensure all Definable Features of Work (DFoW) are properly planned in advance of

the start of the activity.

• Attend and participate in all relevant meetings (e.g., Preparatory Phase, Initial Phase, Production, Health and Safety, project updates,

etc.) and ensure effective planning and coordination occurs.

• Maintain the Safety Bulletin Board in accordance with the Accident Prevention Plan to ensure all communications are up to date and

relevant.

• Prepare, conduct, and document thorough training of employees including, but not limited to: Employee Safety and Health

Orientation, Visitor Employee Safety Orientation, Hazard Communication, initial and follow-up Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) reviews, and daily “toolbox” talks to ensure all requirements and expectations are communicated.

• Observe, promote, and enforce safe work practices including, but not limited to, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fall

protection and prevention, hazardous energy control, fatigue management, and all other applicable health and safety plans.

• Prepare, lead/participate in, and document meetings for safety and health planning and action including, but not limited to: Weekly All Hands EHS Meetings, Monthly Supervisor EHS Meetings, Lockout/Tagout coordination with the customer, and Pre-Lift Meetings.

• Anticipate, recognize, and initiate controls for occupational health hazards including, but not limited to, heat stress, hazardous

materials, and confined space entry.

• Review and provide comments/revisions to AHAs that are prepared and submitted by the sub-contractor for each Definable Feature of

Work.

• Review and provide comments/revisions to hazard specific plans to include, but not limited to: Hazardous Material Sampling and

Testing, Fall Protection and Prevention, Hazardous Energy Control, Respiratory Protection, Mold Remediation, Asbestos Abatement,

PCB Removal, etc.

• Complete monthly internal Safety Documentation Audits

• Complete and file project safety and health documentation daily including, but not limited to, Field Safety Audits and deficiency logs

(including deficiency log tracking workbook) on the project SharePoint site. Follow the SGT Safety Documentation Reference Guide for

frequency of completing all safety documentation.

• Communicate all Field Safety Audit observations to the project team and work with the team to identify and implement corrective

actions.

• Act as emergency response team leader in case of emergency.

• In case of mishap: immediately initiate mishap investigation (ensure the scene is controlled, preserve the integrity of evidence, collect

witness statements, obtain photographs, collect and review documentation, etc.), reporting and communication protocols as well as

identifying causal factors, root cause(s), and corrective actions.

• Retain records of all first aid treatments. Review and analyze for corrective action as appropriate.

• Check weather conditions at a minimum of twice per day while on-site and act on the conditions appropriately.

• Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory log and ensure the proper training, communication, and implementation of the

requirements.

• Immediately communicate all needs of support, occurrences of mishaps (including near misses), and instances of high impact

deficiencies/non-compliance to the assigned EHS Manager.

• Complete all SGT mandatory training on time

Requirements include:

• Five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general construction (managing safety

programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or five (5) years of continuous general industry safety

experience in supervising/ managing general industry (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and

developing controls), and

• Maintain competency through having taken 8 hours of documented formal, on-line, or self- study safety and health related coursework

every year. Examples of continuing education activities that meet this requirement are: writing an article, teaching a class,

reading/writing professional articles, attendance/participation in professional societies/meetings, etc.

• Must be proficient with Microsoft word, excel, and power point.

• Completion of the OSHA 30- hour outreach course for Construction or General Industry and shall maintain competency through having

taken 8 hours of documented formal, on-line, or self- study safety and health related coursework every year.

• Well versed in electrical and arc flash safe work practices, NEC and NFPA 70E.

• Familiarity with fall prevention and protection requirements, ANSI Z359, including roof work and personal fall restraint/arrest systems.

• Familiarity with hazardous materials identification, sampling, and abatement.

• Familiarity with confined space procedures

• Experience working with mobile construction equipment, including cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts and other aerial work platforms.

• Ability to speak clearly in front of groups, to answer questions, and to explain the reasons behind safety standards.

Preferred Requirements:

• Associates degree

• First Aid/CPR certified

• Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 Safety Manual requirements.

Travel:

• Occasional travel to Delta Junction, Alaska

Security Clearance:

• Candidate must be a United States Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
