About Siemens Technology Department

Siemens Technology is the central in-house research unit at Siemens and as such occupies an outstanding position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It acts as a strategic partner to support Siemens’ business units with R&D services, protects the company’s intellectual property, coordinates the collaboration with top universities worldwide, and supports standardization activities in all business units and regions. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, Portugal, China, India, Japan, and Eastern Europe, Siemens Technology helps to secure the company’s technological future and strengthen its ambition.

What role will you play?

We are looking for an Expert in Sustainable Energy and Software who will contribute to the R&D activities of the team. Our general research direction is related to energy systems which covers broad range of possible applications. Having out-of-the-box thinking on this position you will be able to fulfill your interest in applied research and will have a chance to implement your ideas into business of Siemens.

You will be responsible for

  • Development of algorithms in Python (data analysis, optimization, machine learning, monitoring / diagnostics algorithms)

  • Definition of the R&D roadmap based on continuous analysis of technological trends and market of digital applications for Sustainable Energy and Infrastructure

  • Proposition and development of own innovative ideas for the sake of contribution to the teams’ R&D portfolio

  • Ramp-up and coordination of research projects with universities

  • Patenting of ideas contributing to the company’s intellectual property portfolio

We are looking for someone with…

  • MSc degree in technical or computer sciences (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience in algorithms development using Python, MATLAB, R, Golang or Julia (>3 years)

  • Proven successful industry experience

  • Great interest and motivation for applied research

  • Creative thinking and willingness to get knowledge in various technical domains (power engineering and control, energy efficiency, distributed energy systems, gas turbines design & operation, etc.)

  • Communication skills and readiness to work in a team as well as individually, ability to prioritize work

  • Fluent English

Would be beneficial

  • PhD degree in technical or computer sciences

  • Experience in commercial software development with Python (>2 years)

  • Experience with cloud computing, e.g. AWS, MS Azure

  • Contribution to journals/blogs/professional community resources
